Segue Albums

By Livan Samudio

Have you ever been listening to a song on an album and didn’t realize that one song ended and another has started? This is a common technique in the music industry. Segue is the technique used where one song seamlessly transitions into the next song. Segues have been in music since about the early 1970s. Pink Floyd’s album The Dark Side of the Moon has segues throughout the entire album. Other bands such as The Beatles and Grateful Dead were also known for having used segues with a few of their songs. Here is a list of some recent albums by artists that use segues.

In Willow Smith’s self-titled album, each of the songs flow into one another starting with her first track ‘Like A Bird’ and going until the final track ‘Overthinking IT’.

Jaden- SYRE

In Jaden Smith’s debut studio album, the first 4 tracks segue into one another. Each of the tracks named a single letter, which together ends up spelling blue.

Jaden- ERYS

Jaden Smith’s second studio album contains 4 tracks that segue into one another just like his previous album. Though, in this album, the 4 tracks spell out the work pink.

Glass Animals- Dreamland

In their third studio album, the album by Glass Animals includes 16 tracks. Some of the tracks named ‘home movie;___’ include quick and smooth segues into the following tracks.
